We are committed to society responsibility and university activities increased in the Corona crisis
Future University in Egypt (FUE) is proactive in launching humanitarian initiatives and organizing medical convoys.
Investing in distance learning is a win - win. Cooperation programs with world universities qualify students for the international labor market
The Egyptian state, led by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, has placed the issue of human development on its top priority.
The culture of "artificial intelligence" must be promoted through the curricula and programs offered to students.
Talk about private universities and the private higher education system must include Khaled Azazy at the forefront of the scene, not as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of FUE, which is one of the most important and prominent private universities in Egypt, but as an educator who enjoys out-of-the-box visions and insights in this vital field, which is closely linked to science and technology and has become a common feature in all aspects of life.
Khaled Azazy is always mindful of the task of developing the educational process and pays particular attention to the academic side because of his conviction that the real growth begins with education. Therefore, he is always keen on setting a powerful educational system that contributes in building an enlightened creative character that is consistent with Egypt’s vision and sustainable developmental strategy for 2030.
It is true that those who approach Khaled Azazy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of FUE, become undoubtedly certain that he has a orderly mindset, an insight based on scientific foundations and that his successes deserve a pause, especially since he loves to work in silence and does not like to appear.
In light of all this, we have had this dialogue with him about his great achievements and his continued successes through Future University in Egypt in the fields of smart education and scientific research, and of the University’s roles in the academic field, society responsibility, as well as the University's preparations for the first semester examinations in the context of the State's decisions regarding the consequences of the Corona crisis.
How does educator see Khaled Azazy view the relationship between education and the "human-development" issue that has been at the forefront of the state’s concern in the recent years?
Education and the human development issue are two faces to the same coin which combines between realty and modernity, between antiquity and development to keep pace with modern science. Education in my opinion, is the fundamental building block of the human character as well as the main focus of policies in developed countries that provide the appropriate environment for modern-day human development based on science, notions and culture. It is important to say that Egypt, led by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has placed the issue of human development at the top of its priorities on the basis that education is the way to advance, progress and build Egyptian people in all fields and at all levels.
Speaking of Future University in Egypt, what's the University's plan for the first semester exams amidst the Corona crisis?
We are fully prepared to conduct the first semester examinations, according to the schedule of each faculty. In this context, the University Board has developed an elaborate plan, which guarantees the saengineeringy of students and faculty, from setting up well-ventilated rooms, to providing gates to sterilize and disinfect students. Also, students have been alerted to attend the before the exams wearing masks and gloves, so that their temperature can be measured, as well as a commitment to social distancing by keeping a distance of at least 2 meters from all sides, in the frame of the university’s compliance with the governmental decisions and procedures.
How do you see the future of distance education, both during Corona and beyond?
Future University in Egypt is one of the first private universities to pursue the system of comprehensive digital transformation and transition to the age of hybrid education. Thankfully, we have achieved great success in this regard by applying the best smart systems of interactive education, relying on strong technological infrastructure. At the University, we use advanced software and highly accurate systems in this field, and I am completely convinced that we must keep pace with global changes and developments. We must be prepared for the great changes that technology is making in time. As we all witness how President Sisi changes Egypt’s front by creating a modern, advanced and developed state, we must provide professional elements and calibers that are as efficient as possible so that we can keep pace with the world and its changes.
How does Future University in Egypt keep pace with the evolution of science internationally as the world changes?
We constantly aim at international development. Future University in Egypt has successfully made many academic cooperation agreements with a number of the most distinguished universities in the world, as the University always seeks to be in the world's university rankings. The agreements have included the exchange of faculty and students, the mutual degree approval, continuing education and degree programs, whether taught on campus or through distance learning. These agreements were made with a number of international universities, including the University of Cincinnati in the United States, University College Cork in Ireland, Missouri University of Science and Technology in the United States, Case Western Reserve University in the United States, Universiti Utara Malaysia, University of Central Lancashire and others. In this context, the university sent many students abroad for postgraduate degrees so that university students would have a prominent place in the labor market, both local and international.
Speaking of new technology... How does Khaled Azazy see the future of universities under artificial intelligence applications?
In my personal opinion, there is some kind of connection between the two sides of the equation, that is to say between universities on the one hand, and artificial intelligence on the other. Universities and higher institutes can promote the culture and practice of artificial intelligence through the curricula and programs offered to students. On the other hand, artificial intelligence can contribute to elevating the university students’ level of innovation as well as helping them find new jobs and hence contributes significantly to enhancing their living. In this regard and based on FUE’s interest in this field one of the members of the University's academic staff members has been sent abroad to benefit of the world's latest in the fields and uses of artificial intelligence given that this field is of particular interest to the political leadership and shall be highly relied upon in the near future in many areas, not just education.
What is the number of faculties and what additional value distinguishes them?

We are distinguished by a powerful educational system that contributes to the development of enlightened innovative characters through high quality educational and training services according to the international educational methods.

Future University in Egypt relies on precise criteria for the selection of its instructors. The University is keen to ensure that the instructor enjoys, in addition to an academic degree, a range of characteristics, the most important of which is ambition, the desire for continuous development and the use of modern educational techniques. The university has many honorable models, such as Prof. Al-Moataz Youssef, who ranks among the world's top 2% of distinguished scientists, according to the international rankings of Stanford University of America. The importance and scientific value of this achievement lies in the fact that Prof. Al-Moataz Youssef is the only representative for FUE in this international ranking to gain such great importance from the educational institutions all over the world. Also, Prof. Hani Hassanein, was able to obtain first place over Ain Shams University, thus uniting with his colleague Prof. Al-Moataz Youssef in the same honorable achievement, depicting a shining aspect of Future University in Egypt in supporting and developing the educational process in the World ranking of Arab Countries and to advance 30 places.

What about the University’s involvement in scientific research?
We are constantly following up on scientific research, and FUE has been instrumental in this matter. It contributes strongly in many researches, including the Virus-C research. The University has a pharmaceutical training plant as well as a bioequivalence center. It is one of the largest centers in Egyptian universities and is licensed by the Ministry of Health. It involves conducting clinical trials and then reviewing them through the National Drug Authority, in accordance with the establishment of research teams with a group of scientists, experts and scholars from various faculty professors.

FUE has 4 faculties that are accredited by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education, namely the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Industries, the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, and the Faculty of Computers and Information Technology. This has made FUE stand out as a high-level scientific institution among other Arab universities.
What is the university's role in social responsibility, especially during the Corona crisis?
We are always working to maximize the role of social responsibility, both academic and charitable. We pay particular attention to this and are keen to launch initiatives, awareness campaigns and medical convoys. We have a dental hospital at FUE that provides free services to at least 400 cases a day and medical examinations are carried out according to the highest levels at all stages. Also, the University administration covers the expenses for the underprivileged as well as offering scholarships with a higher percentage than that prescribed by the Supreme Council of Private Universities, all as part of the University's service and awareness-raising role in the spreading of education.
